Yeah... my blog starts with a very different kind of post. I have always wanted to write, but couldn't because of whatever reasons... Watched Kumble's retirement video on youtube and thought I should start writing from today... so here it is...
Kumble decides to retire today! A very unexpected news, that too in the middle of the series and "Today" was really shocking. Dont know if he has been thinking about it. Ganguly gave his decision of retirement 15-20 days before his actual retirement, so Ganguly's fans got their mind prepared. Kumble's sudden decision was shocking for Cricket fans. Great player with amazing composure and attitude in the field. I have always liked people who are good at what they do and have amazing attitude on their job, like Ajay Jadeja, Sachin, Sampras, Federrer, Dhoni and yeah Kumble. With Amit Mishra bagging 5 wickets in his first test match that too against Australia and Harbhajan doing his role and Dhoni winning the test match, I had expected that Kumble might see it as a sign. But not so soon. Well, Kotla being his favourite might have added to his decision.
So, I saw the video... I really liked the way the Indian team cheered Kumble. Two of them first carried him on their arms... others thought he is not high enough as he should be, so Dhoni carried him on his shoulders, to get Kumble to that height what he deserved. Such a person Dhoni is. I am really glad such warmth still exists. I wish Anil the best for whatever he decides to do next. This makes me wonder how its gonna be like when Sachin decides something like this. I actually dont even want to think about it... but I surely know how much I am going to cry that day. :)

pretty unusual start for blogging ...
i have been thinking of what to start with .... still thinking ... :)
Thats really a unusual way to start d blog as i didnt know that You are big fan of Cricket..
Yeah its emotional moment for all Kumble fans..He is the most under-rated cricketer of India..
I think when sachin retires, it should be public holiday..Whole India will be crying on tht day..
Keep writing..
Nikhil
As everyone said, very unusual blog and I did not expect such a topic to start with, but the good thing is you (finally)started...!!!! :) [expecting some good blogs to comment and be a critic]
See its a phase of life. You grow, you work and you retire so I dont think there is any emotinal aspect in it, it just unwritten/unspoken truth. After two senior players deciding to retire, I thought Sachin will also follow them but .... [please dont make me start on him]
You gave a good example about choosing a topic to start blogging. This post indicates that a blog can be on anything and it does not have to relate to your life. So people just start blogging....!!!!!
Just waiting to read your mind...!!!! All the best...!!!!
OMG! God save the readers! You're BLOGGING!!! :-O
More comments later! :-D
@euphoria aka Punit-I can imagine you crying :)
@bhavna-I was always in that confused state and couldnt write coz I didnt have a blog. Just started, I have a foundation now... so start blogging with whatever you want to share.:)
@nikhil-I am a big big fan follower of cricket. How come you didnt know ! :)
@ignite-revolution aka Anup-Yep, finally it is up and I would surely look for a lot of critic comments from you. :P. Yeah, and at this blog you will find a combination of different posts. Hope you enjoy reading it. :)
@tejas-And save you as well...coz you are the follower of this blog now.:P
@all-I know it is a very unusual start, but at least it started and much more to come. :)
I didn't get much time to comment in detail in the morning, so here goes:
Kumble was not going to retire for a while. He had said so before the series.
During the 3rd day's play, he injured his finger while going for a catch off Amit Mishra's bowling. There was profuse bleeding and he had to have 11 stitches under General Anesthesia. This prevented him from bowling for a while.
He did return to bowl again on the 4th day and although he wasn't at his best he still picked up Brad Haddin.
While bowling again, a batsman hit the ball back down the ground and Kumble tried to field it off his own bowling as per instinct. The ball hit his finger again and the bandage came off and there was a slight bleed. You could assume that the stitches came out.
Kumble's stitches are scheduled to come out on November 8th and that would be the 3rd day of the Final test. During this time he cannot think about batting or bowling.
So, although he wants to play, he doesn't want to hold the team back. Plus he has also considered that he is 38+ and about the right age to step out to something else.
All credit to him, he thought with his head rather than his heart, and also noted that India did have some more spinners up their sleeves (Pragyan Ojha, Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra, to name a few).
It's the right time to go, and judging by the man's character, you can assume he did not want to have the spotlight on him. It's just the kind of person he is. Quiet, unassuming and extremely tough and determined.
Remember the time he came back to bowl in Antigua against the Windies when he had a broken jaw? He dismissed Brian Lara in the day while bowling with a broken jaw and flew back to India the next day.
There's nothing that exemplifies Anil Kumble better than that incident!
Please no more aesthetic changes...!!!!
:)
nice start Di.. :)
Waiting to read more ...
Kittoo
Hey.. it's really a sad moment! But, he is leaving behind a gr8 legacy for everybody to cherish.. Btw, just to clarify a bit.. He had already decided to retire after the series. He had not made it public. But, he got an injury on his left hand during the match. There were 12 stitches. Still he bowled. He knew that he will not be fit for the last test match. So he declared midway thr the series. :(
I don't know what to comment on the post (boring start), but wanted to just leave a note. I am happy you are doing one of the things you love to do. Remember: One Life.
